The Bathroom Diary

I can’t think of anything more decadent than soaking in a bath tub full of bubbles, sipping a glass of wine and delving into a good book. If I had the time, I would spend a lot more time in my bathroom. Here are some details from one of the bathrooms in our home.

Bathroom

Carved wood box from Kenya, handed down to me from my parents.

Bathroom

I found an old park bench in a dumpster and used the wood to make a sink counter. You can never have too many candles (Diptyque) or fresh flowers in a bathroom. Juliska ring holder (from Upstairs at Pierre Lafond).

Bathroom

Philippe Starck faucet. I love mixing old and new, modern and vintage.

Bathroom

An antique Indian window frame which we turned into a mirror.

Bathroom

Our claw foot tub makes me think of England and a cottage I grew up in.

Bathroom

Trusty Havaianas. Get a pair at DIANI here.

Bathroom

Stacks of fluffy white towels.

Bathroom

Old bathroom prints by Newcastle artist, Robert Olley. See more here. Glass balls hand blown at Kitengela Glass – Nairobi, Kenya.

Bathroom

Bath salts in a Juliska bowl (Upstairs at Pierre Lafond) and Jo Malone Red Roses scent candle.

Bathroom

A photograph by my incredibly talented hubby. It’s called, “Running On Empty” and was taken in Watamu, Kenya. See more of his work here.

Bathroom

Masaii beading.

Bathroom

The “Essentials” shelf. Pretty much all I need to get by when in a hurry.

You can never have too many shower heads.

A Weekend in Photos

Since our wedding (more of that to share soon), we have been sleeping a lot and spending some quality time outdoors. For those of you who planned a wedding know, the months leading up to the big day take up a lot of your time and require serious stamina. A day at the beach, paddle boarding followed by a shellfish home cooked meal with a close friend, sharing stories from our wedding day, were just what the doctor ordered.

La Perla Bathing Suit (similar). A Bridal Shower gift that’s a firm favorite.

A relaxing paddle around the harbor was the perfect way to end a day on the beach.

The Santa Barbara Pier and a pelican friend.

Clams and Mussels from the Fish Market.

Any excuse to break out the wedding gifts. A Juliska cheese plate and vintage cheese identifiers.

Thanks to our good friend, Adam, we had the most delicious seafood feast. I wish you could smell the broth!

Bon Appetite!
