Caroline Diani has been a retailer for 16 years and in the fashion industry for over 24 years. She founded DIANI, a specialty, multi brand clothing boutique in Santa Barbara in 2002 and, in 2008 added DIANI Shoes to the retail landscape in the same city. Wanting to get back to her roots of home design, which was her side job in London while working in fashion PR, Caroline and her husband, Jeffrey Doornbos collaborated on creating DIANI Living, a home concept boutique shortly after they married in 2013. It wasn’t long after that clients were asking Caroline to design and furnish spaces in their homes and assist in full scope remodel projects and, so, her official title of Interior Designer was added to her resume. Her most beloved ongoing project is her and her husband’s restoration of their 1700’s farmhouse in the Hudson Valley, NY which has enabled them to have a bi-coastal lifestyle. Being bi-coastal not only provides endless inspiration, but allows her to have her ear to the ground for what’s happening in the design world.
Born in Nairobi, Kenya, and raised in Northern England, Caroline has developed an avant garde style that blends indoor/outdoor living, tribal family connections, and historical architectural lineages. As a result, she honors the history of a home, regardless of time period, while still creating livable up-to-date communal spaces.
Caroline is passionate about collaborating with home owners who want to bring authenticity to their home. She approaches each project with a blank palate, and starts by getting to know not only the client, but their spaces. While incorporating elements that are personal to the client, Caroline also likes to spend time alone in a client’s home, so that she can “listen to the house” and start on an organic journey that leads to the authentic character traits of the home being enhanced or restored, while at the same time incorporating modern day functionalities. This results in a personal and authentic design that is a marriage of home and owner and has become her trademark aesthetic.
Caroline also designed the interiors of her three stores, and her project interests include hotels, restaurants, and other public spaces. For design inquiries, email firstname.lastname@example.org.

“I highly recommend Caroline as a designer. She was an absolute pleasure to work with on all fronts for my family’s Montecito home. We did a full gut renovation and Caroline helped us with all things big and small as well as managing the project. Among other things, she sourced and oversaw beautiful, custom wide planked wood floors that felt like they were vintage. She chose the perfect paint color for the kitchen and found the most exquisite tile. Her taste and style were the perfect fit for our charming country cottage.”
